If you are looking for some adventure and a easy trek suitable for beginners, then the Kedarkantha Trek is perfectly made for you. During the trek you will come across different type of terrains. The trail to Kedarkantha Peak goes through forests, lush green meadows, frozen pond and on the summit day you encounter snow. On the way you will pass through remote villages with wooden houses. Once you reach the summit you will come across some of the majestic sights of snow-capped Himalayas. This trek is best suited for those who have no prior experience of trekking. This trek can be done is summers as well as winters. But this area is more beautiful during winters.

What is included in the tour

  • Accommodation : Day 1 to Day 5 (Home stay Day 1 and Day 5)

  • Trekking equipment : Tents, sleeping bags, mattresses and other equipment as required
  • Experienced guiding team, camp staff, cook, etc

 

What is NOT included in the tour

  • GST- 5% extra
  • Transport to and from Base camp: We will arrange the taxis to pick up trekkers. The cost will be shared among trekkers
  • Personal expenses of any kind
  • Backpack Offloading: If you decide not to carry your own backpack, there will be additional charge of 1500/-
  • Any costs arising out of unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, landslides, road conditions and any other circumstances beyond our control

Brief Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Dehradun. Drive to Sankri
Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab
Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha base
Day 4: Kedarkantha Base to Kedarkantha peak and descent to Hargaon camp
Day 5: Hargaon to Sankri
Day 6: Sankri to Dehradun
 

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Dehradun. Drive to Sankri

Distance – 220km
Time – 8-10hrs
Altitude – 6400 ft

It is highly advisable to reach Dehradun one day before the start of the trek. Trekkers will be picked up from the Dehradun railway station at 6:30AM. Sankri is at a distance of 220kms from Dehradun. The vehicle will be either Tata Suma or similar type of vehicle. The cost of vehicle will be Rs 5500 per vehicle which will be shared amongst the trekkers. The drive is very scenic via Mussorrie. The drive is a delightful one as it takes you along the Yamuna and Tons rivers. You will reach Sankri at 5 PM. Stay in hotel / homestay.

Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab

Distance – 4 km
Time – 5hrs
Atitutde - 9100ft

Today we will start our trek from Sankri after having a good breakfast. You will cross the beautiful village of Sor where all the houses are wooden. The trail is wide and goes through the beautiful dense forest of Maple and Pine trees. Then you will reach Juda Ka Talab in the afternoon. After having hot lunch you can explore the area. If the sky is clear you can enjoy the beauty of millions and millions of bright and shining stars at night. 

Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha base

Distance – 3km
Time – 2hrs
Altitude – 11250ft

Today is an easy day. The distance you will cover today is 3km (approx) and with moderate speed it will take 2hrs.  The trail is mostly straight forward and goes through dense forests of pine and oak trees. If the sky is clear you can see the snow capped mountains comprising of Banderpooch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag.

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base to Kedarkantha peak and descent to Hargaon camp

Distance – 6 km
Time – 8hrs
Altitude – Kedarkantha Peak (12500ft), Hargaon (8900ft)

Today is a long day but with fascinating and beautiful views from the peak. We start early morning for the peak. Once at the top, you will be welcomed with 360 degree view of snow capped mountains of Himalayas. After spending time there, we will descend and reach Hargaon via Kedarkantha base. 

Day 5: Hargaon to Sankri

Distance - 6km
Time – 4hrs
Altitude – 6400ft

Today we will be descending to Sankri and with moderate speed it will take around 4hrs. Again you will going through the dense forest and further down the train you can view the Har Ki Dun Valley.

Day 6: Sankri to Dehradun

Distance – 220km
Time – 8-10hrs

Last day of the trip you will head back to Dehradun. Tata Sumo or similar kind of vehicle will be arranged for the trekkers. You will reach Dehradun by 7 PM.
