Meghalaya is one of the most beautiful states in India also known as the abode of the clouds! Located in the northeast of our vibrant country, it is rich with cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes. While some people would know Meghalaya only as highest rainfall receiving state, it offers much more for offbeat riders. It is a place that would fuel the imagination of a creative person and probably give rise to masterpieces in literature, art, and music, such indeed is the pristine beauty of this state. Meghalaya is full of sights and experiences that will leave one awed. This makes Meghayala a must do motorcycle travel destination.
You will be riding our Royal Enfields through those long serene roads and completely off roads to explore the stunning beauty of a unique North Indian state – Meghalaya. Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at Guwahati. Pick up bikes and head to Shillong. Stay in a guest house (100km)
Day 2 - Shillong to Jowai via Laitlum Grand Canyon and beautiful bypass road. Explore Tyrshi waterfalls. Jowai guesthouse (100km)
Day 3 - Jowai to Krang Shuri waterfalls to Shnongpdeng near Dawki. Check out Bangladesh Border. Water activities at Umngot River. Stay in tents by the riverside (70km)
Day 4 - Shnongpdeng to Mawlynnong (Asia's cleanest village) to Tyrna. Trek down 3000 steps. Living root bridge. Stay in Nongriat guesthouse. (140km)
Day 5 -  climb up 3000 steps from Nongriat to Tyrna. Ride to Chirrapunjee. Zip lining and explore Mawsmai caves.  Stay in Cherrapunjee resort (50km)
Day 6 - Cherrapunjee to Mawsynram. Water trek in natural amusement park in Mawlyngbna. Stay in Mawsynram camp. (100km)
Day 7 - Mawsynram to Guwahati via Shillong. Return the bikes. Stay in Hotel in Guwahati (160km)
Day 8 - Depart from Guwahati


DETAILED ITINERARY 

Day 1 - Arrival at Guwahati 
Arrive at Guwahati and reach Shillong, 100 km far from the Airport. You will begin your tour from Guwahati to Shillong and you can witness the lush green landscapes with a calming ambiance. Post check-in at guest house in Shillong, rest for a while and explore the beautiful city. There will be a round of introduction and briefing of the entire expedition. Stay in guest house in Shillong

Day 2 - Shillong to Jowai
Our second-day ride will be to Jowai which is at the distance of 70 km via the Laitlum. Enroute enjoy the beautiful village of Laitlum, one of the most astonishing and scenic destinations. The Laitlum Canyons means ‘The End of Hills’ in Khasi. Then visit Tyrshi Falls which is situated alongside the Jowai-Shillong Road. The beautiful falls come down in steps with the water gushing swiftly looking like an enormous white veil. The falls are connected by an arched bridge, consisting of more than 20 hundred steps, which go down to the bottom of the falls. Stay in Jowai guesthouse.

Day 3 - Jowai to Shnongpdeng via Krang Shuri waterfalls
Following day, head towards shnongpdeng via Krang Shuri waterfalls. The Krang Shuri Waterfalls is one such popular falls, located about 30 kms from Jowai in the district of West Jaintia Hills. Blessed with shimmering blue waters and sparkling sunlight, Krang Shuri Waterfalls is stunning and simply breathtaking. It cascades down from a height of about 40 feet into a crystal clear blue pool. One can swim and bathe in the pool but the water is so cold, and the rocks underneath are slippery. Stay in tents by the riverside in Shnongpdeng

Day 4 - Shnongpdeng to Tyrna via Mawlynnong (Asia's cleanest village)
Today is undoubtedly the best Meghalaya has to offer in terms of landscape and bike riding. Head to Dawki – Shnongpdeng to see the surreal waters of Umngot River. No words can describe the pristine beauty you will witness this day. The landscape is surrounded by green bamboo trees bathed in golden light. Visit the Bangladesh Border as well. The plains across Bangladesh will be visible and it is quite a sight. Swimming and exploring the crystal clear waters of Umngot River. Post lunch visit Mawlynnong, Mawlynnong is an Asia's cleanest town in the East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya. Then drive to Tyrna Village, which is starting point of the trek and the last stopping place for vehicles. A trek of over 3000+ steps, through sacred groves of trees and across narrow suspended bridges over rivers is a steep flight of steps which is narrow at certain junctions. Tyrna is famous for the double-decker root bridge, one of the must-visit attractions in Meghalaya. Soak in the natural pools below the bridge and relish the beautiful sight wondering the making of the double-decker root bridges. Stay in Nongriat guesthouse

Day 5 - Nongriat to Tyrna to Cherrapunjee
Post breakfast, trek back to Tyrna and roll down towards Cherrapunjee, which is dotted with waterfalls cascading over deep gorges. This is literally the high point of any visit to Meghalaya. Visit the underground world of Mawsmai Cave, formed by water and natural abrasion. Explore about 150 m (500 ft) of this cavern by walking among tight passages of remarkable stalactite and stalagmite limestone formation. Come back to Cherrapunjee by late evening. Stay in Cherrapunjee resort

Day 6 - Cherrapunjee to Mawsynram
Our ride today starts from Cherrapunjee to Mawsynram, which is the rainiest spot on Earth. Mawsynram offers cascading waterfalls, unstoppable pouring of rain and valleys carpeted with lush greenery. The region is blessed with incredible flora and fauna, and you will be always greeted with unexpected rain anytime during the year. Then head out to enjoy the natural amusement park in the freshwater springs at Mawlyngbna. It is an exhilarating trek on a northern trail under the jungle canopy, through streams and brooks, and plateau of rock and grass that extends endlessly towards open blue skies. Swim and dive into the freshwater at natural river-pools. Return back to Mawsynram. Stay in Mawsynram camp

Day 7 - Mawsynram to Guwahati via Shillong
The last leg of journey leads to Guwahati via Shillong. On your way, visit Shillong for Lunch and last minute shopping. Reach Guwahati by evening shopping and pack your bags. Stay in hotel in Guwahati

Day 8 - Departure from Guwahati Airport​
