Meghalaya is one of the most beautiful states in India also known as the abode of the clouds! Located in the northeast of our vibrant country, it is rich with cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes. While some people would know Meghalaya only as highest rainfall receiving state, it offers much more for offbeat travellers. It is a place that would fuel the imagination of a creative person and probably give rise to masterpieces in literature, art, and music, such indeed is the pristine beauty of this state. Meghalaya is full of sights and experiences that will leave one awed. This makes Meghayala a must-do travel destination.

You will explore several non-touristy and hidden treasures of Meghalaya as you drive over large plateaus and through valleys and thick forests for a swim in the freshwaters; try local delicacies and stay in homestays to get an insight of their culture and their day to day lifestyle. Feel the thrill as you explore through the amazing beauty of the region. Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Guwahati and Reach Shillong - Stay at Shillong 
Day 2 - Shillong to Laitlum Canyon Ridge - Mawlynnong and Nohwet
Day 3 - Mawlynnong to Dawki & Shnongpdeng to Krang shuri waterfalls to Jowai
Day 4 - Jowai to Cherrapunjee. Nohkalikai falls - Mawsmai Caves
Day 5 - Cherrapunjee to Mawsynram
Day 6 - Mawsynram to Shillong. Shopping in the city
Day 7 - Shillong to Guwahati airport. Depart


DETAILED ITINERARY 

Day 1 - Arrival in Guwahati and Reach Shillong 
Arrive at Guwahati and reach Shillong, 100 km far from the Airport. You will begin your tour from Guwahati to Shillong and you can witness the lush green landscapes with a calming ambiance. Post check-in at guest house in Shillong, rest for a while and explore the beautiful city. Stay in guest house in Shillong.

Day 2 - Shillong to Laitlum Canyon Ridge - Mawlynnong and Nohwet
Your second-day drive will be to Jowai which is at the distance of 70 km via the Laitlum. Laitlum, one of the most astonishing and scenic destinations. The Laitlum Canyons means ‘The End of Hills’ in Khasi. Later, visit Mawlynnong and Nohwet villages,  is an Asia's cleanest town in the East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya.Mawlynnong offers some of the most picturesque natural beauty with lush green valleys, crystal clear water in the river, an abundance of flowering orchids hanging from the trees and extremely clean roads which makes this small village a worth visiting destination.

Day 3 - Mawlynnong to Dawki & Shnongpdeng to Krang shuri waterfalls to Jowai
Post breakfast, head to Dawki – Shnongpdeng to see the surreal waters of Umngot River. The landscape is surrounded by green bamboo trees bathed in golden light. Visit the Bangladesh Border as well (if time permits). The plains across Bangladesh will be visible and it is quite a sight. Then head towards Jowai via Krang Shuri waterfalls. The Krang Shuri Waterfalls is one such popular falls, located about 30 kms from Jowai in the district of West Jaintia Hills. Blessed with shimmering blue waters and sparkling sunlight, Krang Shuri Waterfalls is stunning and simply breathtaking. It cascades down from a height of about 40 feet into a crystal clear blue pool. One can swim and bathe in the pool but the water is so cold, and the rocks underneath are slippery. Overnight in guesthouse at Jowai

Day 4 - Jowai to Cherrapunjee. Nohkalikai falls - Mawsmai Caves
Early morning depart from Jowai and head to Nohkalikai falls view point. Witness the majestic view of Nokalikai waterfalls which plunges from a height of 115 ft. Get the ultimate views of Sohra forest from the top of Nohkalikai waterfalls. Visit the underground world of Mawsmai Cave, formed by water and natural abrasion. Explore about 150 m (500 ft) of this cavern by walking among tight passages of remarkable stalactite and stalagmite limestone formation. Reach Cherrapunjee by late evening. Stay in Cherrapunjee resort

Day 5 - Cherrapunjee to Mawsynram to Iew Luri Lura Fossil Trek
Today's drive starts from Cherrapunjee to Mawsynram, which is the rainiest spot on Earth. Mawsynram offers cascading waterfalls, unstoppable pouring of rain and valleys carpeted with lush greenery. The region is blessed with incredible flora and fauna, and you will be always greeted with unexpected rain anytime during the year. Then head to Iew Luri Lura Fossil Trek, It is assumed that the village was once under the sea and as the sea receded the fossils of the sea creatures were embedded in the rocks.The fossils are 450 million years old and no one is exactly clear of the history behind its existence. Proceed further to Umdiengkain waterfall and once you reached the bridge get a sight of waterfall . Later start trekking down to the vertical drop of the fall to take a dip in cold water.Swim and dive into the freshwater at natural river-pools. Return back to Mawsynram. Stay in Mawsynram camp

Day 6 - Mawsynram to Shillong.

The last leg of journey leads to Shillong. Reach Guwahati by evening, last-minute shopping and pack your bags. Stay in hotel in Shillong

Day 7 - Shillong to Guwahati airport
After breakfast, start driving to Guwahati Airport to reach your onward destination.
